So Here is what we know

12th April is another mile stone day with non-essential retail and some hospitality opening, and we are well along Boris’ Roadmap to normality.

We are looking forward to 17^th May which is the provisional date set for international travel to resume and, although we will not get clarity until the beginning of May, this is what we know so far.

Grant Shapps, the Transport Secretary, has announced it is no longer illegal to book a holiday.   The Travel Task Force have announced we will commence travel with a new Traffic Light System and Green Watch List, and there will be introduction of travel certification. The traffic light system will categorise Countries based on risk along side the restrictions required for travel. Key factors in the assessment will include

• The percentage of their population that has been vaccinated
• The rate of infection
• The prevalence of variants of concern
• The Country’s access to reliable scientific data and genomic sequencing

Green – on arrival from a green Country you will need to have taken a pre-departure test and before day two of your arrival back in the UK you will need to have taken a PCR test

Amber- on arrival from an amber Country you will need to quarantine for ten days at home, with a pre-departure test and a PCR test on day two and day eight of arrival. However, you will have the option of a test to release on day five to end self isolation.

Red- on arrival from a red Country you will need do a ten day stay in a managed quarantine hotel at your own expense with pre-departure testing and more on day two and day eight

SO WHY WOULD YOU BOOK A HOLIDAY WITH US NOW?

Our estimate is holidays will greatly increase in price when the 17^th May is given as a definite date for the re-start of international travel. Tour operators are now offering much more flexible booking conditions, for instance if a member of your party tests positive for Covid 19 you can amend your holiday to another date with no amendment charges.
